Japan Trade Talks

KN-TOKYO, President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the announcement of 10 MoUs and strategic cooperation agreements between Indonesian and Japanese business actors worth $22.6 billion or approximately IDR384.2 trillion at the Indonesia–Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that representatives from companies of both countries took turns presenting the agreed cooperation before President Prabowo. The cooperation covers several sectors, including the development of downstream projects based on clean energy such as methanol production from carbon emissions, oil and gas exploration and development, geothermal energy development, as well as strengthening the inclusive financial ecosystem and strategic investment.

President Prabowo Subianto, speaking at the Indonesia–Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, offered transparent and profitable investment opportunities to Japanese businesses during his working visit. He emphasized a results-based approach, prioritizing financially feasible projects with tangible economic impact, and reaffirmed Indonesia’s openness to collaboration, particularly with Japan.

Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business (SKK Migas) Chair Djoko Siswanto said that Indonesia and Japan agreed to accelerate the development of the Abadi Field gas project, Masela Block, Maluku, amid the ongoing war between the United States-Israel and Iran. Djoko said that discussions on the progress of the Masela Block development have proceeded well and continue to show advancement.
