Board of Peace: State Budget Likely to Fund Indonesian Participation and Indonesia Will Not Be Involved in Disarmament

KN. Indonesia has decided to participate in the Trump-backed Board of Peace, which calls for nations to contribute $1 billion or IDR16.7 trillion to become permanent members. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa on Wednesday said the funding will likely be supported by the State Budget if Indonesia opts to make the contribution. According to Purbaya, the government has yet to discuss in detail where the funding for the Board of Peace is sourced. “I believe the majority will come from the State Budget,” he said.

Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Anis Matta said that although Indonesia has joined the Board of Peace, Indonesia will not be involved in disarmament in Gaza, Palestine. “Indonesia will also not be involved in the demilitarization and disarmament in Gaza. Indonesia’s participation in the Board of Peace remains based on the constitutional mandate to support Palestinian independence,” he said.
