Megawati Condemns U.S. Military Intervention in Venezuela

KN. Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Chair, Indonesian 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri said the United States’ intervention in Venezuela constitutes a violation of sovereignty and international law. Megawati described the actions of the United States as a form of neocolonialism and modern imperialism. Meanwhile, Economic Affairs Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto said U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim regarding potential oil supplies from Venezuela would not have a significant impact on the global energy market. According to Airlangga, Venezuela’s current oil production capacity is below one million barrels per day, accounting for less than one percent of total global oil production.
