KN, The East Kalimantan Tourism Service, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and tourism partners are developing communities to strengthen tourism and the creative economy around the new national capital Nusantara (IKN) , said Head of East Kalimantan Tourism Service, Ririn Sari Dewi that one of the activities was a community meeting entitled “Communities as Local Heroes of Tourism and Creative Economy.”
She said that Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, is on a two-day working visit to Balikpapan and IKN, and his agenda for the visit includes inspecting potential locations for hotel investment.
Meanwhile, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno expressed hope that the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara being developed in East Kalimantan Province would positively affect the province’s tourism and creative economy sectors.
“We are hoping for the existence of Nusantara to significantly elevate the contribution of the tourism and creative economy sectors in East Kalimantan,” he remarked in Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan.
According to Uno, the two sectors contribute 5.7-5.8 percent to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the province.
Deputy Head for Financing and Investment at the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority Agung Wicaksono claims that investment opportunities in IKN are attracting European attention.
Agung said the European Business Chamber of Commerce for Indonesia (EuroCham) and the European Union Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam visited IKN.
The visit aims to explore investment potential and the progress of IKN development. C-Level representatives from 30 private companies from European Union countries came along on the visit.
Minister of National Development Planning (PPN) and Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa emphasized that land rights in the form of property rights are permitted at Indonesia’s capital city, Nusantara (IKN).
“President (Joko Widodo) asked us whether land ownership rights in Nusantara were allowed. I answered him that it was very possible and permissible,” he stated at the 2024 National Development Planning Conference in Jakarta.
Nusantara’s Capital Authority is aiming to bring in more than 100 trillion rupiah from private investors in 2024, with the full cost of the project projected at 466 trillion rupiah. Indonesia’s Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) signed a grant agreement with the United States (US) in order to realize Nusantara as a smart forest city.
OIKN’s Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation Mohammed Ali Berawi noted in the agency’s statement here on Saturday that the construction of Nusantara City in East Kalimantan is a rare occurrence, as it pertains to moving the nation’s capital.
