KN. Indonesia’s debt from the United States surged at the end of the second quarter of 2026, while loans from China increased only marginally, widening the gap between the two countries. Bank Indonesia (BI) data showed that Indonesia’s debt to the United States reached $29.54 billion in June 2026, up $1.53 billion, or 5.46 percent, from $28.01 billion in the previous month. The increase was the largest among Indonesia’s creditor countries in June. By comparison, debt to China rose by only $90.9 million, or 0.36 percent, from $25.60 billion in May to $25.69 billion in June 2026.
